That's because, IMO, people, in general, are stupid.

It wasn't my take on the article, but on the people using this kind of passwords.
People are also ignorant for a lot of them, and some will learn how to make proper passwords. They are stupid if they think they know it all and don't need to follow the advice given all over the web about creating secure passwords.
