For all the negative sides of this story, there are many untold positive stories of the many brave people who secretly helped fight the genocide(s) and fight the Nazis during those dark times. More often than not, with pain comes healing.

Yes, but the pope is not one of those "stories".

Yes, but the pope is not one of those "stories".
Actually he is. There are many thousands of Jews alive today because of the efforts made by the pope to hide and save them. He gave many jobs on the Vatican grounds as cover to keep the nazis from taking them. There are many that risked their lives including the pope himself to protect Jews. Those are facts that cannot be denied.

I think he's referring to the current sitting Pope, Scratch.

Both Pope Pius XII and then Joseph Ratzinger's actions during the War have been questionable in the opinions of some but no damning proof of collusion as I have seen has been presented . Pope Benedict XVI's Hitlerjugend membership as we all know was not voluntary like many youth of that era. So happens one of my old German friends who lives here was Hitlerjugend when he was a boy during the War. He gave a presentation to many local churches about his experiences and gave evidence of what happened to those who failed to comply with Nazi Official's orders. Those were the worst of times for Humanity spread amongst all.

There wasn't much he could do, he was just a kid during the war.
