I wonder who the "we" is ... does he have a mouse in his pocket or something?

We should be willing to organize and oversee reconstruction efforts - BUT - "we" better not be the only ones paying for it. . .
"We" need to watch this carefully so that Obama's "redistribution of the wealth" doesn't drain us anymore.

Exactly my point ... and with Clinton being a proponent of this to some degree as a Demmie ...
You know, given the dire need for food, medicine, shelter, and other goods, wouldn't everyone be better off if we supplied the "goods" rather than giving money to a system that everyone knows is corrupt? That way, what the people need is supplied and actually gets to the people instead of corruptacrat's pockets. We certainly have the airlift capability to get it there and could keep a steady supply going once the immediate needs are taken care of. Or is this too simplistic?
I'm speaking of the 100 million dollars promised by the U.S. for aid and not charitable contributions.

That 100 mil. figure is not cash to the Haitian government (what's left of it). It's the cost of supplies and logistics and support to all aspects of their society and structures.
What I'm concerned about is some on-going dollar drain to "rebuild" the whole country. There is not even a reasonable expectation that we should do this - apart from the reasonable emergency aid we are providing right now, which is a lot.

This is actually a false concept ... because food and other goods get handled through corrupt organizations as well. So it most times does not reach those who need it most.
The only way to see that it gets where it's going is to avoid any Haitian organizational handling. If that's at all possible.
I know there are several religious organizations that will probably do a better job of it ... if you want your aide to go where it counts then support those organizations ...

I'd rather see the money go to a corrupt government than to a terrorist organization.
