My wife and I recently attended the "Dawn Patrol Rendezvous 2009" a fly-in of WWI replica aircraft at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton OH. Our friend and host - Foggy - guided us around for two terrific aircraft-filled days of the Dawn Patrol and the USAF Museum at Wright-Pat.

The WWI replicas are mostly 3/4 scale, but you'd be hard-pressed to tell because the only give-away is that the pilot's head looks a little large in the cockpit. There was a full-scale Fokker D-VII there - very impressive machine.

There were also a number of re-enacters there to add to the atmosphere.

Shoulda mentioned something - Columbus isn't but a hop skip and a jump away from Dayton. :)

Actually we travelled thru Columbus on our way to Pittsburgh/Gettysburg/Washington DC. We were running a pretty hectic schedule though. Lots of things to see and not much time to do it in. :)
