Almost a year ago on EOCF, I posted a story of a little girl, not quite 7 years old, who had been locked in a room of filth with no human interaction. She was literally a feral child. Here's the story...

Yesterday I was going through my e-mail inbox and came across an e-mail I'd sent and received a reply from to the author of the article and thought I'd ask her if there was a follow-up on Dani's story.
Promptly I got this reply...
Hi Jordan,
Don't know if you know, but that story won the Pulitzer Prize for feature writing this year. I head to NYC tomorrow to pick up the award. Yaay!
And as far as follow-ups go, I sure wish I could've written one. The family was not allowed to talk to me -- or any other reporters -- for months after the Oprah show taped an episode on them, and before the show aired. Then they signed a contract to publish a book with a freelance biographer and the publishing house won't let them talk to any reporters, including me. So though I would love, love to do a follow-up story, I don't see one in the near future.
Thank you for asking though. I wonder about her all the time ...
