To me, it's more a failure of some teachers in your country to keep the basics of the job: educating, learning, working. It seems to me some are desperate to make their teaching more "entertaining" in order to motivate their pupils and they come up with stupid solutions like this.
My word for them: it's school, it's work, and even if your teaching must be as motivating as possible for your pupils, making it "entertaining" shouldn't be your first objective. Your first objective is to make them value learning, even if it sometimes involves unninviting tasks.
