Yes, they should have to buy an extra seat if they cannot keep from squeezing another passenger against the side of the plane.

The airlines are in the right on this issue. Further, they have the right to do so.

I believe in paying your own weight in compensation. I'm not exactly thin, but then I'm not obese either I would expect to have to pay more than someone smaller than myself.

Or perhaps the "politically correct" thing to do is to section off a portion of the aircraft with "double wide" seats and reserve these for the "heavier" patrons and then charge them more. If the heavies are offended, let them find another way to get to where they're going.

:o

In light of the other article you posted first, about boat tours and sharks ... I have only one question to ask ... if its a concern that the boat tours would increase the shark population, then I suppose they should consider stopping the throwing of tourists over the side to feed the sharks.

Looks like the airlines will be making quite a bit extra money in a few short years...

I'm wondering if an overweight person pays for two seats, does the airline put someone else in that second seat?

Nope, I saw this happen on a flight. The very heavy person had a window and center seat, lifted the center armrest and was pretty comfortable. I was in the aisle seat on the opposite row.

Ahh! I was wondering about the very heavy person's hemroids ... with that arm rest and all :emot-angel:
