it's not news in the sense of being new. heroin has been a problem for suburbia for decades. i grew up in the suburbs. i know more dead junkies than you would care for me to name. it's one of the only drug mistakes i never made myself. i get annoyed when the media reports stuff in this fashion because it portrays it as a new problem when it's not. not even close.
my sister was a junkie wayyy back in the early 70's and i'd like to see someone come up with a more middle class white suburban neighborhood than the one we lived in at that time. since then, things have only gotten worse. over half the kids from my jr high class are dead or in prison because of heroin, crank, and coke/crack and alchohol. people who introduce kids to these drugs sell them an ugly future, and the crime is worse than murder, in my mind.
