Yup, a little stupid. People sometimes get caught by these marginal situations, and sometimes by their own stupidity.

But that's what these services (coast guard etc.) are there for. If they weren't doing these things they'd be training for them.

Having ice-fished "big water" quite a bit ,you learn real quick to always pay attention to the weather, wind and the ice .... and NEVER cross a pressure crack with the wind coming off shore.....your just asking for trouble then.:eek:
