Wow!! - Mutiny on the ship....Felix in charge...
Tigh most likely dead...

Why do you say Tigh is most likely dead?

They clearly threw a flashbang in the compartment. Granted, in that confined a space, it might kill them, but still...

I hope he's not dead :)

CybrSlydr

I don't think they are - but I don't know about the President in the Raptor...

My roomie and I agree that as they were escorted from the CIC, Adama should have kicked Felix's leg out from under him at a minimum. :)

I've always planned to watch it, just never got around to. I see they sell episodes on iTunes so I guess I'll check out the first one and see if I like it.

Well, I'm downloading the HD version of the first episode from iTunes and will be watching it today. I still don't like the idea of Starbuck being a chick though. It doesn't seem right, but I'll reserve judgment until after I see the whole show.

Ok, I watched it. Damn they made Boomer a chick too. That ain't right. The episode I watched didn't look like it was the first one, it was titled '33'. I see there is a movie called Battlestar Galactica Razor, is that the start of the story?

Don't make comparisons with the old series....

This "re-imagined" series is more realistic, darker....All the "good" characters have flaws and all the "bad" characters have some good aspects...

The lines between right & wrong/good & bad are very blurred at time...

This is a very well made series!

I'm still not turned off by it so far. The only thing that really bugs the crap out of me is how the dang camera can't keep still. I can see it's use sometime, but not for 90% of the show. What is the name of the first episode or movie so I can watch that next?

Hans Jaeger

Battlestar starts off in a strange way. "33" is the first episode of Season 1, but you HAVE to watch the MINISERIES first. It won't make nearly as much sense if you haven't seen the MINISERIES.

Season 1 goes...

MINISERIES
33
WATER
BASTILLE DAY
ACT OF CONTRITION
YOU CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN
LITMUS
SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION
FLESH AND BONE
TIGH ME UP TIGH ME DOWN
THE HAND OF GOD
COLONIAL DAY
KOBOL'S LAST GLEAMING - PART 1
KOBOL'S LAST GLEAMING - PART 2

Don't reference back to the original Battlestar. This one is a lot different, and like Panther says, much more complex as far as the characters are concerned. That's a big part of what keeps it moving.

I don't like the "moving camera" thing either, but you get used to it. At least I did.

You mean there was no movie showing the Cylon attack and the events surrounding it?

Hans Jaeger

You mean there was no movie showing the Cylon attack and the events surrounding it?

That's ALL in the MINISERIES --- which was basically the pilot movie. If you don't start with that, you'll lose most of the background.

So the beginning is in flashbacks in the miniseries episodes then?

So the beginning is in flashbacks in the miniseries episodes then?

I'm not sure what you're getting at now. Just watch the Miniseries and it will all make sense. If you don't watch the miniseries you might as well forget about watching the rest.

Also you should watch the seasons and the episodes in order. It makes a difference.

I thought there was a movie or an episode that started with the Cylon attack and then went from there, but I guess not. I am downloading episode 2 of season one now.

Hans Jaeger
02-02-2009, 04:58 PM
The Cylon attack is in the MINISERIES. But if you have your own priorities in mind... go ahead. I've explained as well as I can. Good luck.

Scratch
02-02-2009, 05:09 PM
The only priority I have is to start at the beginning of the story, that's all. I guess you misunderstood me. Usually with a series there is a movie or episode that sets up the story, but it seems with this one what I am looking for is embedded in the individual episodes themselves.

I thought I said it clearly...

I'm pretty sure now you're just having some fun, so that's it for me.

CybrSlydr
02-02-2009, 06:53 PM
Yes, there is a 3-hour, 3-part miniseries.

It was, as Hans said, the pilot for the series. Sci-Fi ok'd the miniseries and would only ok the show if the miniseries did well.

And it did. :D

Like Hans said, there is a LOT in the miniseries you need to see for the series to make sense.

Thanks. I was getting the miniseries confused with the season episodes. I'm downloading the miniseries now. An old neck injury chose to revisit me this weekend and I am taking painkillers, maybe they are messing with me more than I thought. I hate taking medicine:faintthud:

Two episodes down and two to go. I like it very much so far. Things don't look good for the humans at this point though. Some of the negative stuff I've heard about it in the past is turning out to not be true, so that is refreshing.

CybrSlydr
02-04-2009, 10:28 PM

That it was hopelessly politically correct and that they screwed up the original story. I don't see any of that anywhere in what I have seen so far. That's not what took me so long to see though, I just kept forgetting to make the effort to watch it. I'm gonna watch it all now, lot's of catching up to do:)

Hans Jaeger

That it was hopelessly politically correct and that they screwed up the original story.

Personally I don't really care about the original story - that was so long ago. The main kernel of the idea was a good one and they've built from there in a much more interesting and complex way than the original series ever did.

As for PC, I wonder where anybody ever got that idea? Especially with "Frakkin' this and Frakkin' that!" :D

Glad you're enjoying it. I'm a relative newcomer too, but I've burned thru the whole thing - all the seasons - and I'm just taking it week by week as they air the last episodes.

Negativity stems from people hopelessly stuck on the original series...

Zoren
02-05-2009, 11:33 AM
I was like that at first. It really bugged me that they changed the main characters and such. But after watching a couple episodes, I was hooked.

Wonder if 20-30 years from now they decide to remake the remake.

The Caprica trailer--> http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=14&id=57977

After watching the Caprica trailer again, I'm wondering if the "Final 5/6" are clones of their old/dead ones on earth....

Panthera Pardus Nigresco
02-07-2009, 05:05 AM
Hmmm...
The official Battlestar Galactica website made a note to highlight (in a video recap) the "deep crack" in the Galactica that Chief Tyrol finds after disabling the faster-than-light drives...

Could this mean the end of the Galactica in a future episode?

It seems to me that this series, like Star Trek, finally grew up into an adult oriented show.

I mean, when you think about the original Star Trek with silly episodes like "The Trouble with Tribbles" and you look at the recent iterations and feature-length movies, you can see a definite maturing of the show.

I think it's much better now.

It's going to like watching the ending to The Shield all over again.

You can't wait to see how they'll end it, but at the sametime you don't want it to ever end.

Hans Jaeger

Got up to episode 15 now, where some of the dim history of what led up to the time depicted by the series is being explained, but it's hard to follow. Still riveting, but hard to follow.

Hans Jaeger

Zoren, the fourth and final season. I don't think the last couple of episodes have been aired yet.
