My team is the Steelers, always has been. Sunday should be good!
I hope, for one thing, that the kicker is going to be at the top of his game...

True Black and Gold Steelers fan here as well!
They don't have my favorite guy anymore (Dan Kreider - best run blocking fullback in the NFL, bar none), but my mom's from a suburb of Pittsburgh, so I've been a fan my whole life. :)

It's fun to let loose every once in a while and pretend that it really matters who actually wins.
As I recall, the last Steelers Superbowl win didn't put a plugged nickel in MY pocket or change even the slightest thing the next morning. :D

Maybe not, but I felt good afterwards. :D
Even if it wasn't a pretty win.

While the Superbowl is totally different in the type of play. Pittsburg has been there before, but they've only had 2 weeks to recover from that battle with the Ravens. Kurt Warner has a very fast release, and an excellent 3 wide recievers. The 'Hair' can't be everyware, the Steelers could Live or Die by the blitz, they'd better hit Warner, or he can short pass them all day
Should be a good game, Prediction: 23 - 19 Cardinals

I'm saying 21-17 Pittsburgh.
I don't think our offense will do much, but hoping that our defense can slow down the Cardinal's offense.
Warner has the highest completion % of any QB this year vs the blitz - IIRC it was around 64.4%. All those short slants under the LB coverage. Historically, Pittsburgh has been subpar against the pass. Our secondary is certainly our weakest part. I always get antsy when the opposing team drops back to pass...
I agree that we need to hit Warner or get in his face a lot. Else this could be an ugly game for the Steelers.

The Steelers defense will bring the Cards running game (Edgerrin) to a grinding halt. The Cards will have to try to do it all through the air, and Pittsburgh is dominant in pass defense too. Warner won’t have much time to throw the ball and his receivers will be well-covered.
Good defense can win the game.
Pittsburgh has to get a good game out of Roth, and he’s got something to prove after the Steelers won a Superbowl without much help from him the last time.
I think the Steelers biggest worry is if the Cards manage to jump out to an early 10 point lead. If that happens it might be over for them.
Cybr’s numbers sound about right – I pick Steelers 23 Cardinals 20

The part that has me the most worried is how the Steelers offense is horrible at finishing off a drive with a Touchdown. Seems like they're always bringing out Reed to knock it down from 35+. Thank God he's good at it!
Field Goals win a Superbowl not.

My next door neighbor has "This space reserved for Steelers Fans" painted in his driveway. :D I'm going for a long afternoon hike with my daughter and then out to dinner at Lake Cuyamaca Restaurant (near Julian, CA). Should be a beautiful afternoon!

Well, my interest isn't what it should be since the PATS lost, (rats), and the Giants lost (yea), but I read an interview with Polamalu. That is one classy guy. It's all about his teammates and winning, not him, even though he's probably the top safety in the game.

Actually the Colts are my top team. They are close to home and I had a niece who was a Colts cheerleader for two years.
The cheerleader regimen is tough and not for the faint of heart. Can't quit a day job though. She is in her 30's with three kids and still looks like a tight 18year old. Even posed for a pinup calender - no pictures here...

Since I don't have a favorite with these 2 teams, I can really sit back and enjoy the game without the worry of any grief! :)

She was on the Colts Cheerleaders calender a few years back. I forget which month - but in a string bikini. A full size picture is at her parent's house and her house. For her husband it was a "yawn"...
I tried to find it on the WEB - no such luck. Any more investigation I risk the wrath of my wife...

Woo-HOO! The Steelers Rock!
Glad they won. The Cards played a fine game too. One thing for sure, my sister can now live in peace for at least another year as her husband is a RABID Steeler fan! If they would've lost, we family members would not have heard the end of it from him all year!
I was a huge fan as a boy during the Terry Bradshaw years.

I'll give my "congratulations" to the Arizona Cardinals....
If the Steelers think they were overlooked in the AFC, then in comparison the Cardinals were considered to be at high school level.
We heard about the Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins, Falcons, Giants, Saints, Packers, Bears......
No one even expected the Cardinals to win their division let alone make the playoffs.
Then, no one expected the Cardinals to beat the Falcons, Panthers, & Eagles in succession in the playoffs....
Finally,
They made it to the Super-Bowl and gave the favored Steelers a good run for their money!
It was a great game to watch!

Well the Steelers won! And my prediction wasn't too far out. Fabulous game for a Super Bowl - exciting to the end!
But I'll leave the regular play-by-play dissection to the people who get paid to do it.
***
Everybody's all a-buzz over James Harrison's interception and 100 yard run-back for a TD.
Too bad he didn't leave it at that.
Later in the game he got a 15 yd penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. When I saw the replay - him punching and shoving down a Cardinal, well after the play was over - I figured he should have been thrown out of the game. Totally classless, especially for a guy that should have felt on top of the world at that point.
The other classless incident...
When asked by Bob Costas why he finally consented to perform at a Super Bowl halftime, Bruce Springsteen responded: "I have an album to promote, dummy. It's not rocket science."
While I'm at it... pregame interview... Larry Fitzgerald, talking about how much he loved his Mom... and we find out that he didn't see her or even call her before she died... you think, oh too bad, she must have died suddenly. Forget that... she was in hospital for an extended time, dying of breast cancer!
Lastly on an up-note...
Obama's interview with Matt Lauer in the pre-game... excellent (You can find it on Youtube).
Say what you will about Obama, he comes across as likeable and well-spoken.

3. Good, solid coverage by NBC with one major oversight. It took until three minutes were left in the first half for Al Michaels and John Madden to notice that Fitzgerald — the greatest player on the field, as he proved later — hadn't caught a pass. He had one catch for 12 yards through three quarters.
Madden also noted the middle was open for the Cardinalsmoments before a big reception by Steve Breaston right there, and Madden was correct in saying Harrison should have been ejected for his cheap-shot punch on Arizona's last punt.
Great camera shot of Fitzgerald mouthing, "Oh, no" when Holmes made his game-winning catch in the corner of the end zone. And super shots with no talking for the first few minutes after the game ended.

Well, it's a matter of opinion.

Bull crap to that.
It wasn't even a punch! He pushed him over.
He was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct - and that's exactly what it was.
Ejectable my ass.

OK OK, Cybr, don't get excited.
Watch the video. If you don't see a punch before the push, you need new glasses. ;)
Whether he should have been thrown out is a matter of opinion, but the punch isn't.
CybrSlydr
02-02-2009, 11:22 PM
I saw the punch - and it wasn't even a real punch. When you put it in the context of what offensive and defensive linemen do to each other on an every play basis, that was nothing.
